By far the easiest way to increase the influence of the NASUWT in the school is to have a well-organised NASUWT membership.

Recruiting new members, retaining the current membership and organising those members collectively at school level is the key to gaining influence with both employers and the government.

Getting elected

The election process for school-level representatives involves calling a meeting of members where candidates should be nominated and seconded before a vote takes place.

The vote itself can be a show of hands or a more formal anonymous ballot, supported by the Local Association Secretary.

Once elected, the postholder should notify the NASUWT Membership Team on 03330 145550 or email so the membership records can be updated accordingly.
