Covid-19 remains a significant issue for schools and other educational settings in Wales.

As the Welsh Government transitions from managing a pandemic to managing endemic Covid-19, it continues to stress the importance of undertaking risk assessments and sustained Covid-19 mitigations such as handwashing/sanitisation and effective ventilation.

Vulnerable and high-risk workers

Employers are legally obliged to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health and safety of all employees and workers. The NASUWT advises that employers should ensure that staff who are at high risk of becoming seriously ill or dying from Covid-19 are provided with an individual risk assessment. As part of this, the employer should consider reasonable adjustments which may enable the worker to continue to work safely. This may include redeployment or home working, for example.
