As part of the union�s plans to advance equality issues in the workplace, the NASUWT has the Equality Champion. The NASUWT Equality Champion is a non-elected voluntary role aimed at supporting members in workplaces whilst promoting the union�s equality agenda. This is a work-based role, similar in principle to the Mental Health First Aider. Members undertaking the NASUWT Equality Champion role can, after being trained, undertake the following activities in the workplace; � Promoting the union�s equalities work including the equalities based conferences and training courses the union runs for women members, young members, black members, LGBTI members and disabled members. � Ensure teachers in your workplace are aware of all the equalities based work the NASUWT undertake � Act as a point of contact for NASUWT members who have equality based issues at work.
