We are seeking a dynamic leader for our Trade Union Education and Training team. This role will encapsulate all we aim for at NASUWT, heading up the education and training programmes to ensure we organise and empower teachers at work and build the Teachers’ Union. This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role at the heart of the union. The role will help to design and deliver high-impact education and training initiatives and campaigns that advance our industrial priorities, strengthen our voice, and build our membership and activism.

This is a role for someone who enjoys both delivering impactful day to day education and training of our members through hands-on delivery; as well as someone who can strategically plan how to best organise our members and how trade union education can help deliver the unions broader strategy. You will provide strategic leadership for the development and delivery of a comprehensive programme of education and training for NASUWT lay officials, activists and members across the UK. You will lead a team of staff and have responsibility for effective budget management, programme development and delivery, policy development, external representation and the provision of high-quality advice, briefings, presentations and training. The successful candidate will have substantial experience in a trade union or similar environment and will demonstrate a strong understanding of trade union organising and strategy, policy development, negotiation and consultation, briefing on policy issues and the development and delivery of training. You will also have experience of managing staff and budgets and be able to build effective working relationships with elected representatives, colleagues and external organisations.
