Annual Conference 2019 took place at the ICC Belfast between 19th and 21st April 2019.
The 2019 Conference marked the start of our centenary celebrations, commemorating 100 years since the NASUWT was formed as the Voice of Teachers.
The motions at the Conference were selected by a ballot of members to ensure that the issues debated truly reflected what is important to teachers and headteachers.
The motions highlighted the overriding concerns of teachers: teachers’ mental health, pupil indiscipline, education funding, and the teacher supply crisis. Age discrimination, pay, assessment, pension reforms, and access to training also featured high on the agenda.
Over the course of the Conference, the NASUWT issued research on pupil indiscipline and violence, bullying and harassment of teachers, the impact of emails on teachers’ workload, and teachers paying for classroom resources and basic necessities for pupils.
