NASUWT school reps have been praised as the “beating heart” of the Union who have ensured members have had safe places to work during the coronavirus pandemic.

In a video message General Secretary Dr Patrick Roach said that all the Union’s members had been “incredible” during the last year, providing high quality education to children despite the enormous challenges: “It’s our members who are making a difference,” he said.

He said that NASUWT members were “the lifeblood of our Union and our reps are the beating heart”.

He also called on members to do their part and become more involved in the NASUWT and be part of its voice in the workplace.

Dr Roach said:  “This past year NASUWT members have been incredible. Teachers have risen to the challenge of a global pandemic, keeping children safe, providing education – its our members who are making a difference.

“Our success is to be measured by the obstacles which we overcome by working together.

“Our members are the lifeblood of our Union and our reps are the beating heart.

“Our reps in schools and colleages right across the country have been amazing, ensuring that members have safe places to work because your health and safety matters.

“I want to thank our reps and I want to encourage more members to be part of the NASUWT voice in the workplace…thank you for what you are doing.”
