Commenting on the Wales GCE A/AS Level and Advanced Welsh Baccalaureate results, Ms Chris Keates, General Secretary (Acting) of the NASUWT-The Teachers’ Union, said:

“Students and teachers have once again secured high standards and they should be congratulated, unreservedly, for their hard work, commitment and dedication, despite the ongoing challenge of underinvestment in our schools and colleges.

“In spite of the challenges of increasing workload pressures, job insecurity and real-terms cuts to school and college funding, teachers have continued to ensure that young people are supported to achieve their best.”

Neil Butler, NASUWT National Official for Wales, said:

“This is a good day for the students and teachers in schools and colleges across Wales, and we praise their efforts and commitment.

“In spite of big challenges, teachers should be congratulated for continuing to ensure that all students gain the knowledge and skills they will need to unlock future opportunities in the world of work or further study.”
