The Department for Education (DfE) has commissioned a longitudinal study into the working lives of teachers and leaders in England.

The study will address a range of factors, including teacher and leader recruitment and retention, workload and career aspirations.

The survey replaces the Teacher Workload Survey (TWS) and the OECD’s Teaching and Learning International Survey (TALIS) - England will not participate in the next round of TALIS.

This means that the longitudinal study will be the main means for the Department to collect information about the workforce, including workload.

In light of this, it is important that teachers and school leaders who are included in the sample participate in the survey so that the Government is aware of the issues that teachers and school leaders are experiencing.

If you are invited to participate in the survey, the NASUWT would encourage you to accept the invitation.

Further information about the study can be found on the Working Lives of Teachers and Leaders survey website.
