Following campaigning by the NASUWT-The Teachers’ Union, the union has been made aware that some umbrella companies have now decided to furlough hardworking and dedicated supply teachers and pay them appropriately under the Job Retention Scheme, as opposed to 80% the National Minimum Wage (NMW).

Dr Patrick Roach, NASUWT General Secretary, said:

“The fact that some umbrella companies have decided to do the right thing by supply teachers is a welcome and much overdue move which will provide some much needed financial support.

“The NASUWT now calls on others to follow suit as a matter of urgency, so that no supply teachers suffer further as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.”
