Death benefits for teacher’s widows, widowers, civil partners, nominated partners and dependants

In the event of the death of a member of the Teachers’ Pension Scheme the person handling their affairs should notify Teachers’ Pensions (new window) immediately of their death. Teachers' Pensions will issue a Bereavement Pack that contains information and application forms to claim benefits from the Teachers’ Pension Scheme. Teachers' Pensions can be contacted at:

Tel: 0845 6066166

Details of the death benefits available under the Teachers’ Pension Scheme and how to claim them can be found on the Teachers’ Pensions (new window) website.

Remember: You should update your death grant nomination details regularly and following any significant change in your personal circumstances such as marriage, divorce or the birth of a child by completing the death grant nomination form (PDF - 63 KB). Most members can submit a version of the nomination form via My Pension Online (new window).

Should you wish to nominate a partner or a financially dependent relative to receive a pension after you die, you should use the appropriate form on the Teachers' Pensions website.
