Managing Sickness Absence Policy and Procedure
The NASUWT National Health and Safety at Work Committee has produced a Managing Sickness Absence Policy and Procedure.
A commentary version of the model policy that provides background information that NASUWT secretaries will find helpful when seeking to negotiate implementation of this policy will be available once the outcome of the Coalition Government's consultation on 'Modern Workplaces' is known. The consultation includes proposals to amend the Working Time Regulations in light of decisions made by the European Courts. These changes, if implemented, would restrict to 20 days the amount of annual leave that can be carried over to the next annual leave year when a worker has been unable to take annual leave due to sickness absence.
