Personal injury - non-employment-related
This service provides advice and representation for members and their families for all accidents outside the workplace including road traffic accidents, and for non work-related disease or illness. Accidents which occur abroad, for example whilst on holiday, are covered if the claim can be pursued in the UK courts. The Scheme does not cover medical negligence or CICA claims.
‘Family’ is defined as the NASUWT member and their spouse or partner together with their children and any adult financial dependant.
The Scheme gives access for members and their families to the UK's most experienced personal injury law firm and guarantees:
- no investigation costs
- no insurance premium payment
- no expenses to pay as the case progresses
- any costs not recoverable from the defendants will not be met by the member
Call 0808 100 2221.
You will need to provide your name, contact details and your NASUWT membership number. If there is a problem with your membership or you do not know your membership number, contact the NASUWT Membership Team on 0121 457 6211.
NASUWT members who are three or more months in arrears with their subscriptions at the time of the accident/development of the illness are not entitled to legal assistance and cannot establish entitlement to assistance by subsequently paying arrears. Retired, former, career break and associate members who were in membership at the time the issue arose, and in the case of former members, providing they have not joined another Teacher Trade Union, are also entitled to assistance.
