Accessibility

The NASUWT is committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of technology or ability.

The NASUWT uses a common accessible design throughout this web site rather than providing text only pages for disabled users and seeks to comply with Priority 2 of the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines.

The website has been designed with the following accessibility guidelines in mind:

(i) pages are designed so that they can be viewed at a screen resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels;

(ii) a site map is available to provide information about the layout of the website;

(iii) no information is exclusively conveyed using colour;

(iv) a style sheet is used on our website and relative font sizes on all text with the exception of graphical text;

(v) page structure is conveyed using header elements;

(vi) text size can be increased or decreased easily by using the ‘3A’ facility at the top left hand side of the website. Further options are available by using the "view" option in your browser;

(vii) images that convey important information have alternative text. Where an image is used for a decorative purpose the alternative text will be left blank;

(viii) where JavaScript is used, it is only used to enhance the user experience. The site has been configured to allow users access to its full range of functionality whether or not they have JavaScript enabled in their browsers;

(ix) pdf documents held on this website may not be fully accessible due to their design. Where this is the case, the site also provides accessible Microsoft Word documents;

(x) videos and podcasts have text support.

Further guidance about site can be found via the ‘accessibility options’ link at the top left hand corner of each page.
