Youth Music Theatre, whose main sponsor is NASUWT, offers the best opportunities for young people to stage new music theatre in all parts of the UK. YMT works with some of the most talented and passionate artistic professionals from within the music theatre industry in the UK and around the world.

The NASUWT has had a long and successful affiliation with YMT, who performed at the Union's Annual Conference in 2010.

Auditions 2012

YMT has announced dates for its 2012 auditions. YMT is looking for around 300 young people to perform in its 2012 productions. Auditions will be taking place throughout January and February 2012 in cities across the UK. Participants will be asked to attend a 2.5 hour workshop to assess their skills and suitability for a place with YMT.  Visit YMT's new dedicated payment page to book a place at an audition.

YMT is searching for the most talented, creative and energetic young performers, musicians and stage managers to join its national company. YMT devises and commissions brand new musicals every year, and young people have the opportunity to be a part of that creative process, gaining a unique residential experience.

YMT's professional directors, composers and choreographers work all over the world and YMT stages shows at venues such as Greenwich Theatre, the Wilde Theatre Bracknell, Plymouth Barbican, the Rose Theatre Kingston and at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and the Aberdeen International Youth Festival. (Participants do not need to live in any of these towns, cast members rehearse and stay in residential accommodation in boarding schools and universities.)

The 2012 programme of shows will be announced in due course but will include YMT's hugely successful production of Terry Pratchett's Mort amongst others.

Visit the YMT website for more information and full details of dates and venues for the 2012 auditions.
