Members are aware that the NASUWT has opposed consistently the changes to teachers’ terms and conditions resulting from the COSLA proposals.
At the Scottish Negotiating Committee for Teachers (SNCT) Teachers’ Panel meeting held on 28 April, which met to discuss the position of each of the member unions with regard to the Scottish Government/COSLA proposals, teachers in Scotland were sold down the river by the union with the majority of seats, the EIS voting to accept the proposals.
At a meeting of the Scottish Negotiating Committee for Teachers (SNCT) on 23 March 2011, a revised offer was made to the teachers’ side by the employers. The NASUWT analysis of the offer can be accessed on the Union’s website at www.nasuwt.org.uk.
COSLA took out an advert in last week’s TESS in an attempt to persuade teachers that the proposals to cut over £60 million from their terms and conditions is not only acceptable but also justifiable.
